We have had another month full of activities and learning opportunities for the children at Polkadot Alcester.
Baby Dots have been “emerged” in sensory experiences:
- Singing and dancing where they could practice their gross and fine motor skills, balance and body movements
- Painting with their hands and feet
- Exploring shaving foam and colours
In Top Dots, the little explorers have been helping to create their own space display, talking about the moon, stars and planets. Children baked cookies out of playdough first and then out of real dough for St. Valentines. They all got really excited when decorating their individual cookies. Most children are now able to use mathematical language in context. Our favourite shape was “Pizza shape”.
The pre-school children went to great lengths in learning about the science behind the rainbow. They have been talking and painting their own interpretation of the storm/rain, watching out for the sun and hunting down the rainbow. They even got a small rainbow on the plate by mixing different coloured melted skittles and observing the colour interactions.
Everybody had lots of fun splashing in puddles, walking through mud and helping each other when climbing the tree trunk in the orchard. We mustn’t forget our little super-heroes efforts in the pancake race. Parents you were fabulous cheering them on in the rain, thank you!
A very big thank you to all of the parents/carers, for supporting us in our trial visit at the Meadow view care home. What an amazing morning we had. Children took some food colouring with them to put into vases with flowers, they mixed the colours explaining to the ‘Grandads and Grannies’ how “we are going to see rainbow soon, you wait and see”. Next, they have been “teaching” the residents about how to draw the flowers and their pretty colours. The children also loved meeting the two Guinea Pigs there!
We are all ready now for Spring. How about you?
