Seedlings Nursery – What have we been up to this week?

This week in Blooms the children have been learning about clouds. We read a lovely book called ‘Shapes In The Sky’ – a book about clouds. We then decided to go outside and lie down on the floor and look up to the sky and see what shapes we could see in the clouds. One child said they could see a crocodile, another child said an enormous hippo. The clouds were moving fast and when the crocodile shape cloud disappeared the children said “The crocodile has gone because it was scared of the hippo”! One of the children asked if they could do this everyday!
We have also been looking at Diwali and reading a book about it. We explored some clay and one of the children made fireworks with the clay as we had read about it in the book. They flattened their clay with the palm of their hand then used the other end of a paint brush to make marks which they talked about in detail as “big fireworks”. Another child made a clay pot and said “ When it’s dry I will paint it and put a light in it”. Some of the other children made hedgehogs.
We also enjoyed using our creative skills and made some pictures using glue by drizzling it across the paper then sprinkling coloured powder paint onto it. Some of us used handfuls and were very careful throwing it onto our pictures. We had lots of fun as we talked all about the colours and the new colours we had made.
