We did some clever learning today, putting on our own water proof trousers, jacket and wellies. We also helped each other to take them off when we had finished. We all sat around the log circle and talked about the rules – no sticks longer than our own arms, no waving sticks around and to carry them dragging them behind you. The children enjoyed playing hide and seek, playing in the mud kitchen making pasta, mud pancakes and mud pies. The children ran in and out of the bushes and trees, watching the leaves falling from the trees and the children enjoyed playing in the leaves. It then began to thunder and the rain started. We talked about what we could hear and see with some children commenting “the loud bang made my ears turn around.” “It’s loud, made me jump!” “I don’t like that sound but I know it won’t hurt us”. As we will be using forest school more, please ensure you provide wellies for your children.
