Outside Learning at Gingham Pre-School

‘The children and practitioners at Gingham Pre-School have been learning and observing in Forest School. Following the children’s interests, mini beast hunts were planned along with the exploration of the use of tools- using them for a purpose. Children loved working together to find insects- following on from the wet weather lots of worms were discovered and carefully observed by the children- looking into comparisons of length and quantities to enhance mathematical learning. The children used rakes and spades to dig and investigate, looking for ‘treasure’ and finding lots of interesting things in the environment including stones and wood. The children then used their findings to create all sorts of imaginative muddy mixtures together in the mud kitchen.’
