Little Pips have been enjoying the sunny days in the garden and have especially liked exploring the daisies in the grass by picking and collecting them. We enhanced their learning by freezing the daisies in various shaped ice trays and also added dried blossom to the exploration. We added utensils to provide rich play opportunities that the children are familiar with and allowed them to experience the play using sensory exploration. The children used high levels of fascination, showing particular interest in the daisies in ice. This activity allowed the children to learn together, the freedom to become involved, curiosity and investigation and making links to our sensory experiences whilst also exploring simple mathematical language.
