extra activities

In addition to the numerous daily interests available to our children, we also work with outside partners to provide interesting and stimulating supplementary activities across our settings.

Every Child’s a Talker

We were the first Childcare Provider in South Warwickshire to be selected to participate in a pilot scheme ‘Every Child’s a Talker’ (ECAT). Language is important because it forms the foundations for interacting with other people. From this children can then communicate their needs, thoughts and their experiences. A child’s ability to develop language depends on being surrounded by a rich environment of words, sounds, rhythm and both verbal and non verbal expression from birth. ECAT encourages early language development extending the child’s vocabulary and helping them build sentences so that before the child starts school they are confident and skilled communicators.

Baby Sign Language

Baby signing allows hearing children as young as 10 months to communicate their needs and desires, prior to developing their verbal skills. Your baby will recognise important words sooner and can use the signs to “talk” to you before speech. We will encourage your baby with extra signs like ‘milk’, ‘more’, ‘change nappy’ or ‘tired’, all of which will help you and your baby communicate!

Agility and Ball Skills

We work with DF Sports Coaching who visit all settings each week to teach agility and ball skills to our 2 to 3 year olds and our 3 to 5 year olds. The children love it.

Baby Yoga

We now offer baby yoga classes for the children of Polkadot and Gingham. YogaBugs classes bring stories to life through specially developed moves inspired by yoga. Combining fun with exercise, children go on wild adventures where they may roar like a lion, fly like a bird or blast into outer space! Designed to be huge fun the classes increase confidence, improve children’s concentration and fire their imaginations.
