Children’s early years are critical for their health and wellbeing. Establishing good eating habits early in life positively influences growth, development and achievement. Early years settings play an important role to help children develop healthy eating habits.
At Polkadot, we have decided to start to adopt The Children’s Food Trust’s ‘Eat Better, Start Better’ programme which has been designed to provide healthy, balanced and nutritious meals and snacks for children aged 6 months – 5 years and is endorsed by the Government.
We are embracing this opportunity across all our Polkadot nurseries and Denim out of school clubs to help every child eat well, enjoy a varied diet and establish healthy eating habits to take with them into their school years.
Depending on the times that your child attends a setting, over the course of the day children will continue to receive breakfast, a mid-morning snack, lunch, and a mid-afternoon snack. Children attending Denim clubs will receive breakfast in the morning and an after-school snack in the afternoon.
We appreciate your support in this period of adjustment and please do not hesitate to speak to the Manager or Eat Better, Start Better Champion at your child’s setting if you have any queries or thoughts. Alternatively, you can email Chloe on firstname.lastname@example.org
